New ‘Inverse Vaccine’ Shows Potential to Treat MS and Other Autoimmune Diseases

Scientists at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering have developed an “inverse vaccine” that has been shown in lab tests to completely reverse autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis and type 1 diabetes. Instead of stimulating the immune system, the vaccine removes the immune system’s memory of a specific molecule, stopping attacks on healthy tissues.
