AI could help healthcare providers boost cyber defences

The average cost of a healthcare data breach has risen by 53.3% since 2020 to $10.93 million, far above the average for all sectors of $4.45 million, finds an IBM report. The report suggests AI and automation could help cut the cost and time taken to identify and deal with breaches, with those using these solutions reporting a mean 108-day shorter identification time and $1.76 million lower costs. The sector faces specific threats from cyber attacks on suppliers and third-party vendors and needs to focus on these areas.
